Hörlabor

Music for Saxophone and Percussion

featuring

Nikola Lutz - Saxophones, Voice, Body-Percussion, Electronics
Armin Sommer - Percussion, Voice

The formation Hörlabor ("Sound Laboratory/Listening Laboratory") considers itself a think tank when it comes to new sounds, forms and musical concepts. Armin Sommer and Nikola Lutz are in the process of collaborating with artists of different genres in order to bring new artistic forms into musical locations. As well as performances on their instruments, both musicians take new innovative paths to integrate other sound possibilities. Hörlabor works by expanding the concept of a performer, whilst taking possibilities into account that reach beyond the instrument. The artistic content makes use of implements that aren't bound to any specific instrument.

Armin Sommer and Nikola Lutz have continuously been working as a duo since 2001 and regularly perform in concert series and at festivals, i.e. at Musica Nova Reutlingen, musica nova, Stuttgarter Saxophonfestival, Villa-Konzerte Herxheim or Experimentelle Musik im Kunstverein Marburg. The ensemble's main focus of activity lies in the collaboration with composers and the premiere of their musical works.
